I did it! I am SO proud of myself!
I made the commitment 30 days ago to follow the Whole30 food program and I did it. Today is day 30. Yippee!!!
This accomplishment has made me feel more confident and powerful. So much so that I’ve decided to commit to something else for 30 days, and then another 30, and another 30.
There is one thing I discovered that is the key to succeeding in a program like Whole30.
It is not the recipes, Facebook support group, reading labels, or even having family members do it with you.
The key to succeeding in Whole30 and any other journey you take is letting go of the outcome.
Remember the saying, “It’s not about the destination but the journey?” Well, this is SO TRUE.
I shared my journey about wanting to take my business to the next level and essentially falling on my face (ha! I think it’s funny now) in my TEDx talk. Since then, I have had many colleagues contact me about their own experience. Here is just a snippet…
My colleague, Allison, financed her business on her credit cards. She charged over $45,000 and then 10 years later, sold her business for $38 million. She feels good about the risk she took and encourages others to do the same. That makes total sense, doesn’t it?
My colleague, Teresa, also financed her business on her credit cards for a total of $30,000. It has been 3 years and she is still paying off those cards. She is angry and feels defeated. I totally get her perspective, don’t you?
What if we followed our inspiration, driving ourselves toward a goal, while letting go of the outcome?
This doesn’t mean we won’t reach our goal. It simply means we accept and lean into what happens as a result of our actions. Easier said than done, I know, but you are more powerful than you realize.
It’s all a learning process, my friend, and guess what? It is a journey that never ends. That is the sticky truth but also the beautiful part of life.
I’d love to hear from you. Please post in the comments below…
