I had a major ah-ha moment the other day that I’d like to share with you.
I realized that I haven’t always been there for you. This was difficult for me to admit but it’s true.
I apologize from the bottom of my heart.
This is the truth about what happened to me and 3 ways you can make sure it doesn’t happen to you…
My coaching practice reached its capacity in early January. I am so grateful for all of my clients and was totally psyched and pumped up.
I could have ridden that wave and not taken on anything more. But I did.
Why? Because I wanted to help more women and make more money.
So I filled my calendar with prospect meetings, networking meetings, follow-up phone calls, creating email promotions, posting on social media – you name it, I was doing it.
Not only was I not there for you if you tried connecting with me but I was also not there for myself or my family.
This was so hard for me to admit. I mean, I’m the coach, right?
Yes, and I’m also human.
I allowed myself to get caught up in the quest for something more and to make a bigger difference in the world.
What I forgot is that I can make a difference by starting right where I am…with my clients, my followers, and most of all, my family.
I had lost sight of what was truly important to me. I was pushing myself way too hard and I was exhausted!
So what am I doing differently now?
I am having long lunches with friends. I am going to the gym on a regular basis. I am walking my dogs. I am making more phone calls and sending less emails. I am looking around me, noticing nature and people, rather than having my head down, looking at my phone. I even spontaneously stopped on the side of the road to take pictures of our daughter in a field of beautiful pink flowers!
What about you? What are you doing to stay grounded and keep your sanity?
Here are my 3 Favorite Strategies for Regaining Balance and Increasing Awareness:
- Create a Spiritual Practice – connect with the divine wisdom within you every day. This could be a meditative walk in nature, sitting and breathing, journaling. Choose something that works for you and honor yourself by making the daily commitment.
- Align Values with Priorities – remind yourself of your top values and core beliefs. Ensure how you’re spending your time aligns with those values. This sounds simple but it is easy to get sidetracked as you get caught up in your many tasks, allow others to influence your choices, and make commitments that don’t align with what is most important to you.
- Go with the Flow – whatever you are struggling with, let it go. Stop chasing the client that you believe you must have. Be at peace with the missed opportunity, knowing it was never truly yours. Swim downstream instead of fighting to go upstream. If you a rock slows you down, hang out there, figure out the lesson and soon you’ll be flowing easily again.
