Do you ever watch the Making a Difference segment at the end of the Nightly News? I actually don’t watch the news but if I happen to look at the clock and it’s close to 6:55, I turn it on.
These segments are so uplifting and inspiring. They are about people, just like you and me, who are making a difference in others’ lives. It is really beautiful.
Do you believe you make a difference?
First of all, I want you to know that just your presence here on earth makes a difference. A big difference.
Here’s the thing. It’s not about how much money you have, how famous you are, or how many friends you have on Facebook. Truly.
It’s about your desire to make a difference. For me, it is extremely important to me to leave my mark on the world. This strong desire directs my behavior.
So what are you doing to make a difference (big or small) in the world, your country, your state, your community?
Here are some simple ways to start:
- Take Action – you see a need, something touches you deeply, now do something about it! You don’t have to write a big check to make a difference. There are ways you can use your talents and skills to make a difference. It if moves you, there is a reason. You are being called to take action.
- Spread the Word – talk to others about your passion, let them know what you want to do. There is power in numbers. When you start spreading the word, you will be amazed by the resources and help that magically appears!
- Be Vulnerable – open yourself up and be completely genuine and authentic about your humanness. Although this can be crazy scary, I have found it to be the most rewarding. When I am vulnerable with others, they see me as human, a real person who makes real mistakes. The connections you make and the lives you touch just by being vulnerable ripples out in so many directions – it will blow your mind.
You can be the catalyst for change. You can make the world a better place. The question is, will you?
